How to Tone Your Abs fast

Forget about all those advertisements saying that abdominal exercises cannot tone your abs. They can, but it will take a little while before the effects start to show. Getting toned six pack abs is not magic; you really have to work it out and sweat it out.

Perhaps the most effective old school way of toning your abs is through exercise. Of course, you must have heard of abdominal crunches, but that's not the only abdominal exercise that can give you a six pack. Yes, crunches are the most common exercises done for your abdomen, but you will get faster and better results if you combine them with other abs exercises.

One abs-toning exercise that you can do is the abdominal sit-ups. Just like basic crunches, sit ups work for your rectus abdominus, internal and external obliques, and transverse abdominus muscles. But what's great about this exercise is that it also works for your hip flexors, which are muscles responsible for moving your thighs closer to the abs. Sit-ups are done just like basic crunches, only you move your upper body towards your lower body in a 25 to 30-degree angle above the horizontal.

Another exercise that you can do is the cable crunches. It works on the same muscle groups as the abdominal sit-ups do. The only downside to this exercise is that it requires a cable machine. As a result, it is often done inside the gym, where there are complete facilities for weight bearing exercises. If you don't frequent the gym, then maybe it is best for you to stick to your crunches and sit-ups.

Finally, you can also try the lying leg raise and thrust exercise to tone your abs. A word of caution though-people with lower back problems should avoid this exercise, as it may cause unwanted pressure on the lower back. Other than that, you can add the lying leg raise and thrust exercise to your abs exercise routine.
